Essi Hirvonen
The Saints
The Saints is a thematic concert that explores the relationship between the visible and the invisible, the experience of holiness and silence. The improvisational compositions are born out of a longing for meaning and purpose.
The concert consists of five compositions that interweave with each other. The compositions are dedicated to holy people, such as Cecilia of Rome, the patron saint of musicians, who lived in the 200s.
Essi Hirvonen (1993) is a double bassist and folk musician whose solo music focuses on presence and the pursuit of beauty. Hirvonen's contrabass music is a response to the fast-paced world of today, based on minimalist improvisation, long lines, and listening to and experiencing the resonance of the double bass.
