Maja Jantar (°1977) is an interdisciplinary, multilingual and polysonic artist living in Isokyrö, Finland, whose work spans the fields of voice, the audio visual, ceramics, poetry, performance and visual arts. In creating connections and engaging with the more than human, she is interested in hybrid forms, ecology and the arts as a form of ritual. She started her career as an opera director, focussing on short format pieces for a young audience. Parallel with that she developed a vocal and poetic practice which led her to all kinds of stages - from symphony halls to noise festivals, and a visual practice, formation with Hermann Nitsch in Salzburg, evolving from canvas to video work, ink on paper, visual poetry and scores.
