B-Nature & Concrete Energy

Featuring Mercedes Krapovickas (bandoneon, composition) and Mareike Dobewall (composition)

In this performance, bandoneonist Mercedes Krapovickas will present two contrasting series of works that explore the relationship between nature and urban life, exploring both organic and industrial sources.
The first series, B-Nature, is a collaboration between Mercedes Krapovickas and composer Mareike Dobewall. Rooted in eco-consciousness, this performance draws from "nature scores"—graphic representations of natural phenomena. These scores are interpreted by Mercedes to uncover the musicality inherent in nature, creating a dialogue between the performer and the environment.

In contrast, Concrete Energy, a solo project by Mercedes Krapovickas, plunges into the raw, vibrant energy of the urban landscape. This electroacoustic performance weaves together strong rhythms, layered sounds, and the juxtaposition of acoustic and electronic elements. Inspired by the city, these pieces embody the chaos, power, and hidden beauty of modern life. Concrete Energy creates a sonic representation of urban textures—distorted yet clear, harsh yet melodic—capturing the essence of the metropolis.

Together, B-Nature and Concrete Energy present two opposing yet interconnected worlds: the quiet wisdom of nature and the restless pulse of the city. Through these performances, Mercedes explores the delicate balance between these environments, expressed through the voice of the bandoneon.
